| This is an email that I got on Tuesday from my friend Heath, whose parents lost their home in the Greensburg tornado on Friday. ----
Hey y'all, I just wanted to relay all kinds of thanks from me and my family for all the thoughts, concerns and prayers this week. We finally got into town on Monday and were able to save 10 times more than we ever imagined we would be able to. Mom & dad go to church in Dodge, so they were the only ones hit from their church and had several people that helped us out. And my brother had a friend that works for the Hutch News that came in and helped us and then he wrote a story about the day. Here's the link to the story. http://www.hutchnews.com/news/regional/stories/kirks050807.shtml And we were glad he was along because he found dad's wallet, (even though he didn't admit in the article that it was him that found it) under about a foot of debris in the driveway. My brother was then able to find mom's wedding ring upstairs in their bedroom. (The bedroom was in the half of the house still standing) All in all, we filled a 16' stock trailer with things and also filled the auction pickup to the top. Plus, dad is going back today to get the washer and dryer and a butcher block from the kitchen, and whatever else they can salvage. And we were hoping for just a partial pickup load to save. Others were saying the same thing, house where there was nothing, and people were able to save all kinds of things. Mom & dad are staying at grandpa's in Bucklin, so they are doing real well. Honestly, looking around in town, there should have been 100 or more people killed. Only God's grace saved the town from more destruction. It's weird to say, but we are so blessed. Cage, I know your crews have been taking some flack, but they were outstanding in the way they were handling things. Please relay our thanks to everyone at KDOT for all they've done this week. I've included some pictures I took with my camera phone, I have others I took that need to be developed. One is from the hall way on the 2nd floor looking east at what used to be 2 bedrooms. The others are from the street that runs on the south side of the house. -----
